Where to Place

• Place it in the pooja room or mandir. As Dakshinamurthy faces south, many devotees place the idol so that the deity faces south, with the worshipper facing north. Others follow the family custom.
• Keep it on a clean, level wooden platform, pedestal or cloth, as it is heavy.
• On a study table or bookshelf, place it at a clean, elevated spot facing the student.
• Avoid keeping it on the floor, near the bathroom, or in unclean areas.

Placement traditions vary by family and region. Follow your family custom or consult your priest.

How to Use

1. Place the idol on a clean, stable platform.
2. Clean gently with water and a soft cloth. For a deeper clean, use tamarind or lemon if needed, then rinse and dry fully.
3. Apply sandalwood paste, vibhuti, kumkum or turmeric as per your tradition.
4. Offer white flowers, bilva leaves, a lamp, incense and naivedyam.
5. Chant the Dakshinamurthy Stotram or other mantras of your choice, especially on Thursdays.
6. Wipe regularly with a soft dry cloth to maintain the shine.

Care tips: Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive scrubbers. Keep it away from moisture when not in use.
